For 50 years, Mitsubishi Electric (Hong Kong) has made key contributions to social infrastructure, along with the provision of Weather Radar and LiDAR Systems that deliver accurate aviation weather forecast (i.e. wind speed, direction and flow in real time) to ensure air traffic safety.
Applied in Hong Kong International Airport to ensure the safe landing of each aircraft, Radar Systems provide the pilot with accurate information of the wind flow around the plane's course in real time during turbulence in adverse weather conditions.
LiDAR Systems transmit laser beams and, utilizing the roundtrip time of the light backscattered by aerosols, measure the distance between the LiDAR and particles in the air. Unlike conventional anemometers, the LiDAR systems can measure wind direction and speed remotely.
The tandem of these systems, in any weather conditions, make accurate predictions and subsequently enhance the air traffic safety.
